Before I even begin writing this book review I want to state, if you want to read this book, I highly suggest reading the author’s first book of the series The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It gives you some very helpful information on how the characters met, and gives you some history on their relationship before diving into the second book The Girl Who Played With Fire.
This sequel was just as good as the first book, it gets your attention with the very first page and I have to admit, I had trouble putting it down.
Lisbeth Salander is an odd but insanely smart girl, who has a very mysterious past. She is also a genius at hacking into other people’s computers and researching their dirty little secrets. A skill which came in very handy in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, where she partnered up with a journalist Mikael Blomkvist to solve a decades old family mystery of the missing Harriet Vangar. This second book focuses more on Lisbeth, as her finger prints have been found on a gun used to kill 3 people who all have ties to an expose on the sex trafficking trade in Sweden.
This book covers it all, women trafficking, Soviet GRU agents gone rogue, the Swedish Sapo trying to keep their involvement in crimes in the shadows, biker gangs and utterly obscure members of Lisbeth’s family showing up throughout the story.
This book kept the pages turning, and I highly recommend it.
Needless to say, I have already pre-ordered the third and final book The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest
